How We Can Help
We provide therapy for children with communication difficulties in the following areas:
Executive Function
-
We help them better understand how their brains can guide and evaluate their actions by working on skills such as attention, memory, and inhibition.
-
We help to increase their independence, by teaching skills such as self monitoring, flexibility, problem solving and self-evaluation.
Social Communication
-
We help neurodivergent and neurotypical kids to understand their communication preferences, advocate for themselves and develop meaningful relationships
-
We also use principles of executive functioning (i.e. perspective taking, reading the room) to increase social and pragmatic development.
Motor Speech/Apraxia
-
We teach your child how to coordinate speech sounds based on motor plans.
-
We also use a variety of methods such as DTTC and Prompt to help with motor speech disorders, such as childhood apraxia of speech (CAS)
Autism/Gestalt Language Processing
-
We use the Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) method to help your child generate spontaneous language.
-
We use play based and child led activities to increase engagement and communication.
-
We help to find ways for your child to communicate through spoken language, gestures, and/or through Augmented Alternative Communication (AAC)
